I decided to put my "bad" *wink wink* Photoshop skills into use to make some overlays and Twitter Headers for myself. I want some input from you guys on how you feel about it! On Screen Overlay (Took Alpha Image as Reference) EDIT: This is an updated version. Spaced it out and evened it up and added a music box on the bottom right to show my music played on stream. Also used an updated and better photo. AFK Screen. EDIT: Forgot to mention- This is from iTruthful (a Twitch Admin) who designed one before I turned it into this. I want to give him credit, since his template is free to use! http://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/1wl4rw/basic_stream_graphics_pack_v_001/ Twitter Header (Took AFK Screen and tweaked it for twitter purposes) Oh, and if you also wonder "What is Hitbox?" It's a new streaming service I've been using due to Twitch's delay. Started using it because less delay = more interaction with my chat. I love it. EDIT: New Image! This time, is an offline image for Hitbox. I decided I would use a bit of "GFX Effects" in this one. I used Lens Flares and Colored Flares for the eyes of the Titan and Pilot, and used smoke and textures around the words.
I like the simple concept of it! The only suggestion I would have is to put a slightly darker background behind your text in the stream overlay. It'll make it easier to read, but still allow you to have your opacity there.
If you'd PM me some details, I would love to go ahead and fix it up for you! Which overlays would you like to use?
The switch to Hitbox was because I'm mostly just sick and tired of the Direction Twitch was venturing into (Do not get me wrong, they have a great service, just needs to be fixed) They won't fix anything WITHOUT having a competition. Running the monopoly, you think you won't need to do anything. So I made the switch. Also having been a long-time streamer, and being used to just such low delay, and then this BIG new system launches which impacted us streamers greatly, just because of a 30-60 second delay (sometimes longer on certain days) and this was no way for me to interact with my chat and viewers. So seeing that Hitbox had a lot smaller delay, this interested me, and finally made a switch. No regrets to this day.
Hitbox looks like it has some great Hitbox looks like it has some great potential. Once a big streamer switches from twitch to hitbox, then a lot of people will come on board with hitbox. Also, since not a lot of people use hitbox, you'll have a greater chance of getting viewers than the overpopulated twitch streams.
Definitely understand. I've been around twitch since it started but never had the chance to stream due to my internet and PC at the time. Now that I have both I am ready to start. However, since there are now two streaming sites is quite hard to choose which one to use. I really like twitch because of the community and wide variety of casters, with hitbox thought it's a very small site and currently very easy to get a partnership (100 concurrent views). I know that jumping to hitbox could mean quicker growth and no delay, but sticking to twitch is more long term imo and hopefully they will fix the delay down the line.
I'm still open to switching to hitbox though. I get pissed very easily and I'm very pissed at peopl e on twitch atm.
If you're interested, take a look at the r/Hitbox on Reddit. Great community and we're trying to set-up a ReddiThon at some point of 48hrs of streams.
Seeing how friendly people are on there is enough to make me want to switch. I will try out hitbox for the rest of my streams this week (Wednesday and Friday) and see how i like it because it seems that all /r/twitch cares about is drama and I'm quite disappointed that which isn't what it used to be.
If you do join, I welcome you to the Hitbox community. We're trying to set-up a ReddiThon where a lot of people stream for 48 hours to help charity. The more people, the merrier.
